Overlapping component and inequality decomposition: a simulation study for the Gini index

Abstract: Abstract This paper analyses the effects of overlapping subgroups on inequality decompositions. Within the framework of the Gini inequality index is performed a simulation study which allows to compare and evaluate alternative decompositions with respect to different degrees and situations of overlapping.
