Abstract: [TR] Turkiye isgucu piyasasi verileri incelendiginde isgucune katilim ve istihdam arasindaki guclu iliski dikkat cekmektedir. Bu iliski istihdamdaki degisimin sektorel kaynagina gore farklilik gostermektedir. Bu not istihdam ve isgucu arasindaki iliskiyi irdeleyerek bu farkliliklari ortaya koymayi amaclamaktadir. Ampirik bulgular, kisa donemde, insaat sektorundeki istihdam gelismelerinin, hizmet ve sanayi sektorlerine kiyasla, isgucu ile daha zayif ve dolayisiyla issizlik ile daha guclu bir iliski icinde olduguna isaret etmektedir. Diger bir ifadeyle, iktisadi faaliyetteki hizlanma (yavaslama) insaat sektorunden geldigi olcude issizligi azaltan (arttiran) etkisi daha belirgin olmaktadir. [EN] Analysis of the Turkish labor market data reveals a strong correlation between labor force participation and employment. The magnitude of this correlation differs with respect to the industry that leads the change in employment. This note aims to address these sector specific differences. Empirical evidence indicates that, in the short-run, compared with employment in industry and services sectors, employment in the construction sector exhibits a weaker (stronger) association with labor force (unemployment). In other words, to the extent that pick-up (slow down) in economic activity is led by the construction sector, its positive (adverse) impact on unemployment is more pronounced.
