Abstract: This paper is based on research done for the Intergenerational Report 2007. A brief discussion of alternative methodologies for projecting defence spending was included in the appendix of the report. This paper provides a more detailed discussion of the alternative methodologies explored and shows the projections that were done, updated for current defence spending data. Other longer-term economic projections for Australia are consistent with those used for the Intergenerational Report 2007.
