Several influential, but intellectual persons constituted the Liberal party during the period under review. They held any conferences under the auspices of the National Liberal Federation of India. The Liberals generally blamed the government for their unfortunate position. The paper presents the facts of liberals and their role in politics. Key words: liberals, politics, ineffectual role
