Abstract: Teaching is one of the stressful professions. The presence of diabetes contributes to the further increase in their stress levels, andthis negatively affects their sleep quality and emotional states. Yoga is known to reduce stress and have a beneficial effect on healthy and diseased conditions. The objective of the study comprised to study the effect of yoga on stress, sleep quality, and emotional states of school teachers suffering from type 2 diabetes. The methodology involved 39 (all female) schoolteachers who have type 2 diabetes since minimum of 3.4±2.2 years, with age range 30 to 55years (44 ± 6.6). Subjects with known cases of cardiac disease, psychiatric illness, recent surgery, pregnancy, were excluded from the study. All the subjects underwent one month of yoga intervention, one daily for five days a week. Fasting, postprandial blood glucose level, Perceived stress, emotional regulation and sleep quality were assessed before and at the end of the intervention. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 10. Paired sample t test was used to find the pre-post differences in all variables.
