Abstract:
This paper aims to analyze the technology transfer using PDD from 2005 to 2015 which are registered in Korea, and then suggested the policy implications. I conducted a logit regression to analyze the effect of the host country's characteristics(GDP per capita, emission, technological capacity, geographic factors) and the project's characteristics(the number of similar projects, CER issuance, expected annual emission, scale, credit buyer) on the technology transfer using the registered CDM projects in Korea from 2005 to 2015. The results are the following six. First, the number of similar projects discouraged the technology transfer. Second, the low GRDP per capita encouraged the technology transfer. Third, the high emission, which has the large reduction potential, encouraged the technology transfer. Fourth, when issuing the large CER, which made a rate of return increase, then encouraged the technology transfer. Fifth, unlike other foreign studies, the expected annual emission has no effect on the technology transfer. Lastly, when there are more than 1 credit buyer, which made the risks decrease, then encouraged the technology transfer. In conclusion, the empirical result supported the all hypothesis except the hypothesis 5.
