Abstract: In diesem Working Paper werden räumliche Reorganisationstrends von Forschung und Entwicklung in der Medizintechnik betrachtet. In Deutschland ansässige medizintechnische Großunternehmen sehen sich einem wachsenden Druck ausgesetzt, internationale Wissensressourcen und Marktsegmente zu erschließen. Beispielhaft wird anhand der Technologiestandorte Boston und Shanghai diskutiert, welche Auswirkungen diese Entwicklung hierzulande auf Wertschöpfungsketten, Aspekte der Mitbestimmung und Arbeitsbedingungen von Beschäftigten hat.
