Abstract: In Pakistani educational system, English language has a distinguishing place for getting higher education and job opportunities. However, it is challenging task for ESL teachers to develop students speaking skills. Therefore, the current study aimed to analyze the strategies for developing students English language speaking skills and find out the new trends adopted by university teachers for developing students English language speaking skills. The researchers selected 2425 students and 97 teachers from public universities of Pakistan. A self-designed instrument was used to collect data. The calculated reliability of the tool was .876. Data were collected and analyzed by using SPSS and percentage, mean score, and standard deviation were calculated. The results conclude that teachers sometimes use modern and innovative methods to teach the English language, whereas, most of the teachers never use technology to enhance students speaking skills. The study recommends that teachers should pay full attention to develop students speaking skills which is an integral skill of ESL students learning.
