Abstract: Law 40/2004 has been a contentious legislative measure in Italy, often labeled a “Catholic law.†This law has significant ethical implications, particularly in the context of assisted reproductive technologies. The legislation emphasizes respect for nascent life and includes provisions restricting various aspects of reproductive techniques.
