Role and signifcance of the Internet in the development of civil society

Abstract: Civil society and the Internet activate each other in their coevolutionary development. The Internet facilitates the civil society activities by introducing new and transforming existing social practices. Civil society contributes to the development of the Internet by providing the necessary social base – citizens and their groups – for communication and interaction.
