The marketplace market in Russia. Taxation features and development trends

Abstract:
The article presents an analysis of market trends for the marketplaces at the present stage. It is defined that today consumers actively use the services of marketplaces, having appeared quite recently, they already occupy more than 50% of global sales of various goods and services. It is highlighted that in the global e-commerce market there are more than 1,600 marketplaces, not counting online sales channels, their sales volume varies at the level of $ 2–3 billion, and it is expected that popularity will grow rapidly in the future, as more and more companies choose that mode to sell their products. The author considers models and business models used by marketplaces and specifies the dynamics of sales for key marketplaces in Russia and the number of monthly requests based on the results of the first quarter of 2025. The emphasis is placed on the particulars in taxation affecting the cost of goods and services.
