The role of chambers of Commerce in the development of Russian-German economic relations

Olga Rybkovskaya ()

RSUH/RGGU BULLETIN. Series Economics. Management. Law, issue 2

Abstract: The article examines the historical experience of the chambers of Commerce of Germany and Russia as an institution that promotes economic ties, in the context of introduction of the West’s anti-Russian economic sanctions. The author believes that in the conditions of narrowing of opportunities at the international level for the preservation and development of economic relations it is expedient to place reliance not on Central business associations (Federal Association of German industry (BDI), where the tone is set by the largest enterprises and a strong military-industrial complex, but upon the “grass-roots†business associations - regional and local German and Russian chambers of Commerce and their Central organization.
