EEU in global value chains: limits and paths to insertion

Abstract:
The article is devoted to key features of EEU countries participation in global value chains. The major focus is centered over the role of the Russian Federation in the development of production networks and consequences of the trade flows transformation in the aftermath of 2008 crisis. In light of the conducted research, some suggestions are made to foster the process of production fragmentation within the region. For instance, those include recommendations on the improvement of custom procedures and transport infrastructure, creation of the efficient system of regional trade agreements. Besides, comparative analysis of 1998 and 2008 crises is provided from the global value chain perspective.
