NTERNATIONAL TRENDS IN THE PRODUCTION OF GM FOOD: RISKS AND PROSPECTS

Abstract:
Reviewed international trends and main stages of development of genetic engineering in the world. Shows the global achievements of biotechnology in the production of transgenic organisms and their practical use for the production of pharmaceutical preparations, food products, which are currently actively conquering international markets. Presents an analysis of the world market of products containing GMOs. Shows the possibilities of new biotechnologies allows to reduce the loss of perishable products in the international transportation and storage. Analyzed the opinion of the scientists of the world about the benefits of large-scale production of GM products and the possible risks for population health and the environment of the planet. Presents the results of international studies of the safety of products containing GMOs. Reviewed national and international regulatory legal base governing the production and circulation of products containing GMOs and ensuring the safety of the domestic food market.
