Abstract: A study was performed to investigate the effects of waste materials on soil microbial communities and methane (CH4) emission in Boro rice season (December 2015 to April 2016) at Environmental Science Field Laboratory of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The field experiment comprised of 5 treatments: T1 (control i.e., no fertilizer), T2 (100chemical fertilizer), T3 (50well decomposed farm waste + 50chemical fertilizer), T4 (50well decomposed kitchen waste + 50chemical fertilizer), T5 (50well decomposed municipal solid waste + 50chemical fertilizer). The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Population of bacteria, fungi and nematode was counted from post-harvest soil.
