Abstract: Purpose: Depression is a common comorbidity in people with diabetes that increases the risk of poor diabetes control and diabetes-related complications. While treatment of depression is expected to help, some antidepressants have been associated with impaired glucose metabolism. Evidence is lacking in the scope of this problem for people with diabetes. The objective of this study is to describe the prescription of antidepressants for diabetic patients with a focus on medications suspected to impair glucose control.
