Abstract:
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a progressive disease and as the disease progresses, insulin therapy becomes necessary in at least 50% of patients with T2DM. The administration of very high insulin doses has inherent challenges including weight gain, absorption problems with high volume of insulin as well as compromising on patient acceptance, comfort and compliance. Thus it is important to have treatment options that combine insulin-sparing agents with insulin to minimize both insulin volume and side effects.
