Abstract:
Vitamin D and its receptor are possibly related to T-cell-mediated autoimmune diseases and influences susceptibility to Type 1 diabetes (T1D). The aim of this study was to assess the contribution of vitamin D receptor (VDR) polymorphisms to the susceptibility to T1D in a Colombian sample. Associations of VDR gene variants with T1D were investigated in a sample of 200 familial trios from Colombia. VDR polymorphisms FokI (rs2228570), BsmI (rs1544410), ApaI (rs7975232) and TaqI (rs731236), were determined using PCR-RFLP methodology.
