Is industrializing Africa an unachievable dream?

Abstract: On the 15 November 1844, fourteen countries met in Berlin to divide and have absolute ownership and control of Africa among themselves. The countries represented on that day were the union of Austria & Hungry, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, union of Sweden & Norway (Norway and Sweden were unified between 1814-1905), Turkey and the USA. The USA was invited to the Berlin Conference only because of its interest in Liberia (which was an independent country of freed slaves from the USA) but it had no interest in building colonial empires in Africa. Austria-Hungary, Sweden-Norway, Denmark, Italy, Turkey, and Russia were considered minor players and did not play significant part in the partition of Africa. This meeting provided the roadmap for the partition of Africa which happened between 1884-1885. The current countries boarders in Africa are a direct result of the partition of Africa. Before the Berlin Conference, which subsequently led to the partition of Africa, there was no Ghana, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Kenya, or Uganda.
