Abstract:
Definition of the third sector “That part of an economy or society comprising non-governmental and non-profit-making organisations or associations, including charities, voluntary and community groups, cooperatives, etc.”. The third sector, also known as the nonprofit sector, the social sector, or civil society plays a crucial role in Development Finance and is expected to have a significant impact on the future. The third sector encompasses a wide range of organizations, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), charities, foundations, and social enterprises. These organizations are typically driven by a mission to address social, environmental, or humanitarian issues rather than pursuing profits using for-profit and nonprofit models. This article some key trends and insights on the future of the third sector and its contribution to development finance.
