Abstract:
Often the economic empowerment of women is perceived as a social issue that is discussed as a ‘supplement’ or ‘addition’ to the discussions on advancing trade as a tool for development. This is notwithstanding the fact that research has evidenced that the participation of women in trade has exponential development outcomes and is integral to achieving the sustainable development goals.
