Abstract:
Urban-Econ Development Economists was commissioned by the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) to undertake a detailed investigation of the private property industry in the Western Cape Province, with special reference made to the City of Cape Town Metro.This report is the first component of the “The Role and Impact of the Commercial Property Sector in the Western Cape” study. This report aims to contextualise the size and quantity of the private property sector in the Western Cape to provide a foundation for cost calculations related to application and other administrative processing timeframes. The second report supplements the first by analysing development application case studies in order to link processing timeframes to economic performance.
