Abstract:
The paper, after an introduction of biographical nature, presents the main points of controversy between keynesians and Friedman in the post World War II. It covers the differences relating to the consumption function, and therefore the power to stabilize aggregate demand through fiscal policies. It also shows the distances between monetarists and keynesians regarding the nature of the inflationary process and the effectiveness of monetary policy. Finally, the conclusions are aligned.
