Abstract:
The objectify of this paper is to analyze the use of the royalties paid by Itaipu Binacional Company in the primary sector from Marechal Cândido Rondon city in the Paraná State in Brazil, after the formation of Itaipu Lake. The research performed a historical analysis of the municipality and data for the transfer of royalties to the municipality during the period 1992 to 2008. The results indicated that after a period of population decline due to the formation of Itaipu Lake and the emancipation of four counties, the former districts, the municipality of Marechal Candido Rondon is streamlining what is being reflected in the increase of population and sectoral employment. The funding from the royalties are very important for the municipal economy, mainly because it is from this that many jobs, actions and projects are executed in the primary sector.
