IMPACT OF CROP SELECTION ON THE COSTS OF WASTEWATER LAND TREATMENT

Edward B. Bradley

No 283843, 1976 Annual Meeting, August 15-18, State College, Pennsylvania from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: Crop production can be an integral part of land treatment. Net treatment costs are simulated for systems growing corn, alfalfa, and reed canary grass. Growing reed canary grass minimizes net treatment costs, due to its longer irrigation season. If an 85 percent cap !ta I subsidy is provided, growing corn grain .minimizes local costs.
