Abstract: Other papers on today's program have established the fact that land values in the U.S. have been rising rapidly. The trend has been going on for 40 years but the rate of increase has accelerated sharply since 1972 when farm incomes rose to new levels. I need not spend time on describing the trends as it is done elsewhere in this symposium. My interest is in how rising land values affect concentration of land ownership and control.
