PRIVATE VS. PUBLIC ORGANIZATION OF THE U.S. GRAIN EXPORTS

Clarence D. Palmby

No 283782, 1977 AAEA-WAEA Joint Meeting, July 31-August 3, San Diego, California from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: I am pleased to participate in this forum on a subject which continues to occupy a role of critical importance in our nation's farm economy. The meeting theme: "Public Vs. Private Control of U.S. Grain Exports" gives me an opportunity to describe the organization, operations, strengths and possible weaknesses of the United States system of exporting grain. I shall welcome the chance to explore with others on the panel those avenues of thought which can lead to improvement of the system.
