Abstract:
Major policy issues in the conversion of agricultural land to urban use are reviewed. including scope, level, criteria, time and means. A case history of lam conversion in urbandale, Iowa is presented as a representative of a class of rapidly gro..1ing suburban cornnunities. 'Ihe experience of this canmunity is used to discuss implications for land use policy in the urban-rural fringe.
