Abstract:
Income-expenditure relationships are important components in many economic models used to project food expenditure and in understanding food expenditure related behavior. While the empirical estimation of income-expenditure relations have concentrated on the effects of income variations on the level of expenditure. However, the problem associated with the assumption of structural homogeneity in the analysis of household expenditure behavior has received less attention in the applied literature.
