Abstract: Recent appreciation of real estate values has unevenly eroded assessment levels from legal standards in many states. Inflation also has affected the determination of use values for agricultural lands. For Missouri counties, general reassessment is estimated to cause sizeable property tax shifts which ultimately would alter public service demands.
