Abstract: In this lecture I will (1) explain why agricultural economists tend to be Cornucopians rather than Malthusians; (2) examine how the availability of the natural resources of energy, water, and land will affect aggregate agricultural output in the United States for the remainder of this century; and (3) discuss public policies affecting natural resource use in agriculture.
