Abstract:
The Almost Ideal Demand System(AIDS) has been estimated for four food groups and compared to its own linear approximate version and the linear expenditure 5ystem(LES). The AIDS avoid the restrictive proportionality relationship of the LES and its approximate version estimates expenditure elasticities quite well.
