Abstract:
My assignment--to give an agribusiness perspective on USDA data and economic analyses--could easily become an exploration of endless diversity. The basic challenge is to identify the veins of common needs and clarify how priorities get communicated when these needs confront scarce resources. Doing this necessarily involves dealing with perceptions and desires of the groups supplying information and using USDA feedback. While I cannot meet this challenge, I will attempt to contribute toward it.
