Forecasting Corn Producers' Response to the 1986 Feed Grain Program

John Ferris ()

No 278413, 1986 Annual Meeting, July 27-30, Reno, Nevada from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: A time series supply equation on corn found four factors to "explain" 90 percent of the variation in planted acreage - expected net returns from corn, soybeans, and the corn program per base acre, and land retirement requirements. This equation was applied to the Feed Grain Program to forecast 1986 acreage.
