Abstract: Optimal use of applied nitrogen on irrigated corn on clay loam soils where accumulation of residual nitrate N occured was insensitive to changes in interest rates and fertilizer/crop price ratio changes. Soil tests are necessary to determine the correct N application. Deviations from the profit maximizing level affect both current and future profits.
