THE PERSONAL DISTRIBUTION OF INCOME IN U.S. AGRICULTURE

Robert D. Emerson and Benjamin F. Blair

No 270467, 1989 Annual Meeting, July 30-August 2, Baton Rouge, Louisiana from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: Lifetime measures of income are estimated for farm households and contrasted to non-farm households. The mean, variance, and Gini ratio are calculated annually for 1968-83. The distribution measures are shown to be affected by education and percent of the population nonwhite. Macroeconomic variables do not have a strong effect.
