Prepare for successful ag lending in the 1990s
Michael D Boehlje
American Bankers Association, 1987, vol. 01, issue 2
Abstract:
To ensure future success, agrilenders must adapt to the new farming environment by improving strategic planning, segmenting markets, and changing the focus of credit analyses. Collateral and cash flow based lending must be replaced by performance-based lending. Steps in evaluating farm performance include assessing: 1) risk and collateral; 2) income-generating capability; and 3) business efficiency and productivity.
