Abstract:
A joint statement submitted to the House Agriculture Committee by the American Bankers Association and the Independent Bankers Association of America in support of HR 2130, legislation to improve the efficiency and operation of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corp., is presented. Three of the key changes under the legislation provide for: 1. the authorization of Farmer Mac to act as its own pooler, 2. the elimination of the mandatory 10% loan subordination, and 3. the extension of the capital transition period for 3 years.
