A MODEL FOR AGRICULTURAL COMMODITY R & D

P. A. Donovan and W. L. Nieuwoudt

Agrekon, 1988, vol. 27, issue 01

Abstract: With constraints on State funds, consideration should be given to the private sector and agricultural commodity organisations undertaking their own R&D. Private organisations tend to adopt a goal-orientated research approach. Examples are the SASA Experiment Station and international private sector poultry research. A model is constructed based on data available from the SASA Experiment Station depicting a detailed functional breakdown of activities and costs of such a research programme
