THE DEMAND FOR IRRIGATION WATER IN AN INTENSIVE IRRIGATION AREA

Abstract: Linear programming procedures offer a useful means of estimating irrigation water demand functions at the farm level. If such estimates are to be aggregated to form regional demand schedules, care must be taken in the selection of representative farms if aggregation error is to be minimized. Both seasonal and intra-seasonal demand schedules are presented since both are important when irrigation demand estimates are being developed.
