Development Strategy of Beef Cattle Fattening as Efforts Growing an Entrepreneur in Indonesia

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the development strategy of beef cattle fattening as an effort growing an entrepreneur in Indonesia. The research was conducted in District Boyolali, Central Java, Indonesia in August to September 2016. Methods of data collection techniques do with literature study, observation, interviews and focus group discussions. Design research using descriptive analysis. Data were analyzed using SWOT analysis. SO were in cooperation with other agencies / departments involved in the development of feed processing technologies by utilizing the availability of land and agricultural wastes, in cooperation with the local government to expand the marketing network linked to the demand for beef pieces that continue to increase and improved knowledge of farmers in the development of beef cattle. WO were implement educational programs, training and demonstration plots to improve the skills of farmers and foster the entrepreneurial spirit, feed processing technology development and processing of manure waste and enabling farmer group. ST were improving the skills of farmers to instill the entrepreneurial spirit in order to increase productivity by utilizing the human resources potential to be developed and increase the partnership with third parties. WT were improving the skills of farmers to instill the entrepreneurial spirit to be able to access market information, access to sources of capital to improve business productivity and improving the institutional role of livestock farmers. The results based on SWOT analysis showed that the total score obtained results of the analysis of internal factors were 0.26 and external factors were 0.25, then the appropriate strategy in the development of beef cattle farms located in Quadrant I. The strategies implemented in the first quadrant were situation were very favorable. The strategy applied in these circumstances was to support aggressive growth policies, namely to use force to obtain business opportunities and profits of beef cattle fattening
