DYNAMIQUE DES POPULATIONS DE DIAPREPES ABBREVIATUS, CHARANCON DES AGRUMES, EN MARTINIQUE ET CONTROLE BIOLOGIQUE EN PEPINIERE PAR DES NEMATODES ENTOMOPARASITE

Abstract: Un important ravageur de Citrus et de Canne à sucre aux Antilles : Diaprepes abbreviates (L.) a récemment été signalé dans 500 hectares de Citrus en Guadeloupe et en Martinique. La dynamique de population de ce ravageur a été suivie de Mai 1986 à Mai 1989. Cette étude montre que Diaprepes abbreviatus est présent tout au long de l'année avec un maximum de pontes de Mars à Juin. La virulence de 2 souches de nématodes entomoparasites (Neoaplectan a et Heterorhabditis) vis à visdes larves de Diaprepes a été comparé en pépinière. La mortalité importante des larves (94,5 %) a été obtenue avec Heterorhabditis . Ce résultat encourageant montre que les nématodes entomoparasites sont des candidats intéressants pour le contrôle biologique de Diaprepes abbreviatus dans les pépinières de Citrus. ----- The so-called surgacane rootstalk borer weevil, Diaprepes abbreviatus(L) an important pest of citrus and sugarcane in the West Indies was recently found infesting 500 hectares of citrus in Guadeloupe and Martinique. Population dynamic of this pest has been followed from May 1988 to May 1989. It shows that Diaprepes abbreviatus is present throughout the year with a maximum of eggs laying from March to June. The pathogenicity of two strains of entornophilic nematodes (Neapiectana and Heterorhabditis) to Diaprepes larvae has been compared in nursery. The highest grub mortality (94,5 %) was obtained with Heterorhabditis. This encouraging result show that entornophilic nematodes are interesting candidates for biological control of Diaprepes abbreviatus in citrus nurseries.
