----- An inquiry, conducted by the «Service de la Protection des Végétaux» in Martinique, and GRISP Antilles Guyane, could identify the major phytosanitary problems on tomatoes in the French West Indies. All these problems impede the expansion of tomato production. Erwinia chrysanthemiand Erwinia carotovora are identified as causes of wilt, in addition to Pseudomonas solanacearum. Nematodes are only a cause of weakening for plants. Leaf miners Liriomyza sativae, bacterial spot,( causal agent : Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria), mites (Eryophiidaeand Tetranyques) and (locally) virus diseases (CMV, TMV, PVY), are the most important causes of disorders on aerials parts. An important work, in order to improve grower's technical nature, will be necessary ability to obtain a better phytosanitary situation.
