Abstract:
This article provides a description of Ukrainian rural households, their classification, role in rural economy and development of rural territories. It presents their importance for preserving Ukrainian village, their sustainability character, difficulties and weak points, but also positive tendencies in the state policy and society aimed to support small producers, as households can belong to this category, and to preserve rural areas. We consider also challenges and opportunities for Ukrainian households in the context of the implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine. This analysis provides perspectives of households and proposes some ways for saving rural area.
