Agriculture et développement économique. Essai de détermination de liaisons fonctionnelles entre quelques agrégats économiques

Albert Simantov

Économie rurale, 1968, vol. 75

Abstract: Tentative estimation of functional relationships between some economic aggregates The author makes a synthesis of the works in quantative economics, showing the decline of the part of agriculture in the gross national product in most countries. He points out that certain farm policies have tried unsuccessfully to stop this inevitable trend. The only measure would be to increase the degree of food self-sufficiency. Two important facts are to be noted : the share of the consumers food expenditures allocated to non-farm products tend to remain unchanged and the input bought by farmers represent from 2,5 to 3,5 % of the gross national product in any country, at any time and at any level of development
