Les avenirs possibles de la politique agricole commune

Adrien Zeller

Économie rurale, 1972, vol. 92

Abstract: H is possible to individualise the major problems of which the agriculture of the ten european countries will be confronted and to indicate the possible alternative politics. The adoption of U.K. of the community system instead of the «deficiency payments » is not a major change, as the two systems are based on the same fondamental criterias. The price-policy will change with the enlargement (p. ex. relations in prices cereals/beaf) but the existing interest will be more different than in a Europe of Six. The traditional « compromises » will they be replaced by an economic policy of agricultural prices ? The enlarged Community could very well, now and then, be divided into several zones of markets and prices in relation to future monetary troubles. The traditional principe of free-competition will be faced on a hard test in the necessity of avoiding the desertion of peripheral regions and by the Hill farming policy in Britain. Certain controled aspects of the Mansholt-plan are opposed to the liberal tradition of english agricultural policy. Finally, the enlargement will change the conditions of dialogues of the European agriculture with other agricultural blocs in the world.
