Abstract: It is not easy to study the farming community's new interest in politics because significant events must be picked out In the absence of complete means of analysis we shall limit ourselves to the study of events which have to a greater or lesser extent given rise to general debate in union movements. 1968 marks the beginning of fresh lines of thought in the farming community all of which react in face of the modernization of farming. In 1970 the paysans travailleurs » (workers- farmers) tendency almost gained the majority at the CNJA conference in Blois. In 1972, this movement became independent. The MONATAR and the MSTP appeared later along the same lines. Similarly at the same time the MODEF and the FFA develop considerably. Nevertheless all these movements are regressing today and do not seem to be acquiring a wide audience. Finally the farming profession still has a certain unity which requires analysing more closely than in the past.
