Abstract: There is no desert in France, and yet, in certain administrations, in certain researches, they say there is one. Is there a frontier where the desert begins, is there a limit beyond which some Sahara would threaten ? What is the attitude of the State towards our under populated areas ? What can their inhabitants expect ? Can we find there the forerunners of a post-industrial society ?
