Abstract:
The VINCENT'S "global productivity index " is described, and used to measure the productivity of french farms belonging to the RICA (Accounting Network of the EEC). No productivity gains were found for these farms between 1971 and 1978. But, in view of the high dispersion of results, it would be difficult to conclude that the average input I output ratio has decreased during this period. Nevertheless, it is shown that it farmer's incomes are generally lowered by a productivity losses, they are not improved by productivity gains, when the latters occur.
