Les effets de l'intensification de la production laitière sur le revenu des exploitations et des familles agricoles

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to study the effects of the intensification of dairy production on the income of the farms and farmers. For this study, the dairy farms sampled in 1 978 by the French RICA (A ccounting Network of the EEC) which ha ve between 20 and 50 hectares, have been divided into groups according to indicators of intensification (number of dairy cows per hectare milk yield). This paper particularly shows that the intensification of the production increases the farms' income and the farmers' standart of living of which the household expenditures are an indicator and this happens in spite of increased charges induced by the accumulation of means of production, linked to the process of intensification.
